Event: Free D&B Coming to Brighton at Re-Vamped Venue, Quarters

With the nightlife business in crisis all across England and the whole of UK heading for another cost of living crisis, many venues, promoters and advocacy groups are looking for ways to keep the scene alive, especially for ravers. Groups like SaveOurScene UK are working with the newly-appointed Music Venue Trust to assess the damage and prop up the scene, but some venues and artists are also taking it upon themselves to make changes and keep people dancing.

Quarters, located in the former The Zap in Brighton, is one such venue working to make live music more accessible as purses continue to tighten on the South Coast. Hearkening back to the free-rave movement of the 80s and 90s, they’ve booked a series of free D&B-focused raves, with the first installment, ‘Free the Jungle’ with Ed Solo and Benny L seeing excellent attendence and loads of happy punters. The next party, is coming up quickly this Friday, 27th March with Sexy Lady Massive and Silva Snipa presented by Spotlight.

After these initial events, the free rave series will take place on the second Friday of each month, with April’s ‘Free the Bass’ and May’s ‘Free the Drums’ featuring the likes of Phibes, Jam Thieves, Nicky Blackmarket, Primate, TLB and Gaja. Free tickets will need to be claimed before each event, and with four thousand already gone across all the events, Quarters advises ravers to secure their spots early.

Many in the music industry believe the answer to saving live music in the UK is to go back to the way it was originally built up: grassroots pomoters and venues working together for the love of the dance. Quarters is certainly employing that method with the free rave initiative, to help bring back rave for the love of it, not for profit. Join them 27th March and beyond. Tickets and info here.
