Premiere: Killbox Drops Their First Teaser for an EP, Project and Label Five Years in the Making [Valkyrie Music]

It appears Ed Rush and Audio have been sitting on a powder keg they’re finally ready to ignite with Killbox’s anticipated upcoming EP, Killer of Killers, due out first of May this year. With the first single ‘War by Remote’, which dropped today, the deadly neuro duo took to social media with an announcement that this preview track not only warrants their comeback as Killbox after five years, but a new vision for the project. This is also the first release on the newest neurofunk label, Valkyrie Music.

In their joint post on Instagram, Audio said the time he and Ed Rush spent working on solo projects has helped to galvanise the approach and sound they want for Killbox going forward. If ‘War by Remote’ and the rest of Killer of Killers is any indication, the new label promises to be as good as its name.

As is often the case with these two artists, Killer of Killers has a strong theme and even stronger imagery, both of which are needed to keep up with the bombastic music. Clearly inspired by the current condition of the world, the samples in tracks like ‘Without You’, ‘Caustic’ and ‘Chatty Patty’ merge with the heavy, relentless beats to underline the point this EP is making. The raw, agressive teeth-gnashing vibe is there as a response to the the apocalyptic war machine-driven dystopia the world is finds iteslf in at the moment, and a call to fight fire with firepower.

‘War by Remote’ is likely the most clearly stated commentary on the above-mentioned theme, with its samples being direct quotes about drone warfare. With that stated clearly in the intro, the music punctuates over and over it with a cinematic-style composition in which all the lines on the staff: bassline, drums, even the synths and ambient sounds create a track which sounds exactly like what one would imagine the drone warfare described in said intro to sound like. Like the drones, this track surrounds the listener with mayhem and doesn’t let up. One can’t help but feeling like one is in the middle of a drone strike, and that’s likely exactly the point.

Killer of Killers will drop on 1 May 2026 on Valkyrie Music, with at least one more teaser track premiering before. ‘War by Remote’ can be purchased now on Beatport here.
