Here’s a track that will have punters doing a double, triple, even quadruple take when they see who’s on the roster: Prolix, Richter, Fallen and Gracie van Brunt releasing a track on Viper? What could sucha collab possibly sound like? Luckily Kmag has the preview of ‘Fading Light’, and it might be one of the most beautiful and complex tracks of 2026.
From a cursory bit of reseasch on Beatport, it looks like the main thing the three producers, known agro-neuro warrior Prolix and melody-makers Richter and Fallen have in common is Eatbrain. Some may remember they collabed on a dubstep/D&B mashup track called ‘Don’t Let Me Go’ with vocalist Maey on the neuro imprint’s Divergence V – Part 1 compilation back in 2024. The track saw all parties winging out of their respective comfort zones and they clearly enjoyed it. That track was a raucous neuro-coded banger, however, so it appears there were more boundaries to push for the unlikely trio
‘Fading Light’ is even more of a surprise from this group: steeped in melody and storytelling, it features the expertise of each artist in a way in which fans can recognise who contributed what, but the track is so cohesive it doesn’t really matter. Prolix, Richter and Fallen have almost created a new genre with this one with the intense beats and bass mashed together with artfully composed melody. The lines of music don’t just float along next to each other as with many other melodic neuro tunes; they’re integrated and integral to each other, creating a hazy yet intense vibe that’s aggressive but conjures indie dream pop at the same time. A new sub genre called neurodream?
Gracie van Brunt’s vocals figure into the equation in the same integrated way, and fans will see a new side of her with ‘Fading Light’. Her diversity of vocal writing and styling shines through as she matches the intensity and strained emotion of the track, becoming a highlight without taking away from the musical narrative. All these artists combining their talents has produced a near perfect track which, whilst releasing in the dead of winter, will likely be a favourite in the upcoming festival season and beyond. Gooseflesh-inducing vibes like this don’t come around very often, and ‘Fading Light’ is likely to be an instant classic. Viper were smart to snap this one up.
‘Fading Light’ drops this Friday, 6 February on Viper. Pre-order/pre-save here.
