Rave to the Grave by Yushy is a documentary photography zine capturing over three years of Cardiff’s underground drum & bass culture through immersive, first-hand imagery and narrative.
Born from the author’s serendipitous entry into the scene as a university photographer in 2017, the project chronicles every kind of event in the city – from sprawling warehouse raves to intimate gatherings – and documents the raw energy, community bonds, and expressive freedom of the scene in motion.
Yushy originally self-published a limited edition run of 200 copies of Rave to the Grave in 2020, which quickly sold out. This edition has 100 pages (eight more than the first run).

Description
Commentary by Yushy: “I spent 2017 – 2019 documenting almost every drum & bass rave across Cardiff. When I was supposed to be studying at university, I spent many, many hours photographing everything from raves in abandoned churches to mega raves that held over 10,000 people. I went into every rave head-first with one camera, one lens and a flash. Not knowing what to really expect, I just continued to go because I was interested in raving culture.”
