This month’s video selection features the likes of Chopstick Dubplate, S.P.Y, Ulterior Motive, Vision Z, Fliptrix, Dubbul O, Zeds Dead & Dirtyphonics, Jaguar Skills & Chords and more.
Chopstick Dubplate – Worldwide Traveller ft. Top Cat & Mr. Williamz
Filmed guerrilla style on a Ryanair flight, this ode to the “joys” of flying budget airlines is my favourite video this month. Lyrically and visually this is very funny, check it out.
S.P.Y – Manicured Reality ft. Lowqui
Classy track from S.P.Y and Lowqui as you would expect. The video, directed by Gregory Francis, takes a look at the darker side to the image we project to the world.
Ulterior Motive – Tape Pack
Taking its cue from the track title, the video sees a middle aged raver reminiscing about his hedonistic past by listening to an old tape. Taken from their forthcoming album The Fourth Wall on Metalheadz.
Vision Z – Karma ft. Jodie
Prague based bass music producer Vision Z released this deep, atmospheric track with Jodie on Seven’s Uprise Audio imprint earlier this year and has just issued this video to accompany it. Look out for Vison Z’s debut album coming next year featuring vocals from not only Jodie but also Alys B and Susie Ledge.
Jaguar Skills & Chords – Lust feat. Matti Roots
Turntablist extraordinaire Jaguar Skills teams up with Chords and vocalist Matti Roots for this new single forthcoming on Ram.
Fliptrix – Praise The Sun ft. Rag N Bone Man
Sam Cox’s animated video for Praise The Sun consists of over 1,800 hand drawn frames that have then been scanned and individually coloured digitally. These are then processed and placed together to create a smooth animation. The end result is a three and half minute animation that took over 2,000 hours to create. Look out for Fliptrix’s fifth solo album Polyhymnia coming on High Focus on October 8.
Dubbul O – Slang To Ya Brain
Dubbul O and Pro P release their third video, Slang To Ya Brain, taken from their acclaimed joint album Omega on Room2 Records. With Brain Food Media on the visuals, Dubbul O showcases again why he’s one of the fastest rising hip hop MCs in the scene today.
Triple S – Broken Records
Broken Records is all about the joy of playing vinyl and the semi-animated video captures this well with a story of a once loved but now neglected record. If you like this be sure to check out Triple S’ new free album A Brighter Light that covers hip hop, boombap, trap, bass and grime.
Zeds Dead & Dirtyphonics – Where Are You Now ft. Bright Lights
Zeds Dead team up with Dirtyphonics for this epic dubstep track featuring vocals from Bright Lights from their Somewhere Else EP out now on Mad Decent.
D-Red – Just Some Weed Bars
The video for Just Some Weed Bars was filmed in D-Red’s hometown of Bristol. It’s got a great golden era jazzy hip hop vibe thanks to the beat produced in France by Matka Afterprod and best of all you can grab it for free on the D-Red Bandcamp page.
