The Invaderz New Found Dialect

Week 44: Essential Drum & Bass Releases [Oct 2014]

Brendon Nultiply takes a look at ten new releases from the world of drum & bass. This week’s picks include The Invaderz, Pennygiles and Hybrid Minds.

The Invaderz – New Found Dialect (Commercial Suicide)
New Found Dialect has a great balance of both soulful and rolling dnb and is a seriously impressive return for The Invaderz. I’m particularly feeling the the more soulful numbers such as ‘Addicted’, ‘Jazz Club’ and ‘Love Vibrations’ but overall this album has a bit of something for most heads. Top album and a must-buy in my book.

Pennygiles – Stories Untold Remix EP (IM:LTD)
One of my favourite tracks from Mr Pennygiles gets the remix treatment from Nymfo, Arkiak and Robustus and all efforts are solid! Also included is a smooth bass heavy colab with Redeyes entitled ‘Wavering Lines’.

AshJerona – The Core (Vibration Recordings)
Always liked the output from the Jerona Fruits gang, and Ash Jerona has dropped a great multi-genre effort here ranging from glitchy house and hip hop style beats to rolling liquid drum & bass. Overall, The Core is a great listen and good to see AshJerona isn’t scared to to mix up the styles.

Boston – Go With Me / The Little Things (Symmetry)
You can definitely  hear why Break has picked up Go With Me / The Little Things for Symmetry. Two great rollers with lovely crisp production throughout and they sound wicked on a big system!

Infamy – Flying Swords / Perplexed (Inperspective)
One for the serious drum heads here. Mashed up, filtered and impressively polished Amens all over the shop with big bass! Exactly the kind of wreckage we’ve come to expect from Inperspective basically.

VA – Dispatch Dubplate Series 001 (Dispatch)
Ant TC1 gives us a blast from the past with this limited vinyl-only dubplate series. The A-side sees one of my favourite Dispatch tracks from recent times ‘The Formula’ get the Break remix treatment and, on the flip, Xtrah and DLR give us another nod to times past with ‘Direct Aproach’. Being vinyl-only there’s no audio for this one so check out this dubplate mix from Ant himself…

Amaning – Timewarp LP (Fokuz)
Everyone into the liquid side of things will surely know about Fokuz Recordings and their impressive consistent output and, yet again, this effort from German producer Amaning doesn’t disappoint. This is Amaning’s debut album but those who have heard his previous tracks on the likes of Soul:r and SGN:LTD will know all about his great deep and rolling style.

Antagonist & Paragon – Deadly Designs EP (Nurtured Beats)
Nurtured Beats hit us with a solid four-track EP from Antagonist and Paragon. Dark minimal and steppy thoughout with bone shaking bass.

Hybrid Minds – Mountains Remixed (Spearhead)
Spearhead pull out the big guns to remix Hybrid Minds debut album from last year. Highlights include great re-works from the likes of Lenzman, dBridge, Nymfo, DLR and Phil Tagent.

Various – TDR003 (Think Deep)
Think Deep have an almost stupidly high amount of great new music in the pipeline so they’ve decided to treat us to this four-track sampler vinyl including tracks from Paul SG, Euphorics, Silence Groove, Clart and Kalum.
