Kmag Playlist: 8 Songs that Inspired Dancefloor Up-and-comers Krasia and Their Latest Banger, ‘Nothing to Lose’ [Wobbles & Waffles]

Regardless of all the different sub genres and the constant (and increasingly rapid) evolution of sound in D&B, there’s something to be said for straight up dancefloor bangers. Not just frogstep or the ubiquitous melodic dancefloor tracks that are popular today, but tracks that make the dance move no matter what the category. Newly formed Welsh trio Krasia are dedicated to creating that sort of joy with their work irrespective of genre, with tracks like their latest ‘Nothing to Lose’ on the freshman label Wobbles & Waffles.

Formed in 2023 by school mates Bengo, Daisley and Niss at Cardiff University, Krasia are already on the map with their unique brand of fun, fresh drum and bass. Starting with several tracks on PullUp Recordings before the likes of NUFORM and Elevate came calling. Their pairing with Wobbles & Waffles on ‘Nothing to Lose’ seems particularly poignant, as it seems both artists and label have the shared goal of injecting fresh, fun and well-done sounds into what Wobbles & Waffles call a ‘very demure’ current musical climate.

‘Nothing to Lose’ is fast-paced and dance-inducing but it’s also extremely well-crafted. Despite using a classic vocal loop and standard dancefloor structure, it’s cut and spliced together with expert precision that even the tech heads will appreciate. Said cutting and splicing, along with 4×4 intervals and a snarling, neuro-tinged synth line makes ‘Nothing to Lose’ of a higher calibre of track than most dancefloor pieces out today, and thus an official banger with something for everyone.

To introduce themselves and give fans a better understanding of where Krasia get their inspiration both musically and techncially, they’ve put together a playlist of eight tracks that influenced ‘Nothing to Lose’. They tell the story of the track and likely where the trio got many of their techniques and blending ideas. Listen, read and stay tuned, as Krasia stand poised to be on the collective D&B radar even more in the coming months.

Sub Focus – Wildfire

We’ve always taken major inspiration from Sub Focus, but this one hugely influenced us during the making of ‘Nothing to Lose’. We especially love the catchy vocals and, like every Sub Focus tune, the production is flawless.

1991 – Worlds Apart

We all love 1991, and this song is one of our recent personal favourites. The melody and vocal is beautiful and this tune definitely inspired us when we were working with the vocal and putting together the emotive introduction in ‘Nothing to Lose’.

Circadian & System F – Cry

Another dancefloor drum and bass song that features a timeless rave vocal mixed with a catchy melodic hook. We love everything Circadian has been putting out recently and definitely try to take inspiration from the sound design and energy in his music.

Delta Heavy – Ecstasy

You might be able to tell, but we’re big fans of 4×4 and this track hits so hard in the rave. It also switches from 4×4 into dancefloor drum and bass – something that we also did in ‘Nothing to Lose’.

Culture Shock – Get To Me

This track features one of the catchiest vocal chops, and we regularly refer back to this as inspiration when we’re working with a vocal sample.

Robin Schultz – One By One (Andromedik remix)

Andromedik is another producer who definitely inspired the sound we’re pushing at the moment. This track also features a 4×4 section followed by a drum and bass switch and definitely inspired us as we were making ‘Nothing to Lose’.

1991 Ft. Alex Hosking – Jungle

This is one of our favourite dancefloor tunes at the moment. We love the vocal and the drop carries so much energy – it’s one that we all regularly listen to and take inspiration from.

Subsonic Ft. Cameron Hayes – Ascend

Subsonic is also a producer we take a lot of inspiration from. This song in particular has such a great hook, and the stabs he’s used in this track largely inspired how we approached making the drop of ‘Nothing to Lose’.

‘Nothing to Lose’ is out now and can be streamed or purchased on multiple platforms here.
