We take a look at the top 10 ragga jungle tracks for the week of September 8, 2014.
Numa Crew Feat Dub FX – Bass Hater – Liondub International
At number four on last week’s list, this tune still has my attention and has moved it’s way to the #1 slot. I find myself singing the lyrics randomly. Keep your eyes peeled for the full album coming out soon on Liondub International and many more single releases by the Italian Numa Crew.
Dani DK feat Daddy Freddy & Blackout JA – Kill Dem Sound – Cooking Fyah
This Barcelona based label is on the rise as one of the best new labels this year. Dani DK along with Daddy Freddy and Blackout JA (Run Tingz) deliver a killer tune for the dance floor that will get old school heads and nujacks alike dancing.
FeyDer feat Slimjah – Unity – Mashed Youths
Much like Russia’s other great export, the AK-47, FeyDer is precise and always delivers. Teaming up with Slimjah, this Mashed Youths tune provides us with a hard Amen hitter for those peak hours. If you don’t already own this tune or the EP I highly recommend it.
Diamond Geezer – Crazy Riddim – Asbo
Also known for his alias Dubist (Dread Recordings) is Diamond Geezer from London whose sounds I always keep in my arsenal. Crazy Riddim is a high energy tune perfect for any set at any time of the night. This one definitely takes me down memory lane a decade or two!
Dubtime – Unity – LOWFREQMX
From Mexico comes Isaac Maya’s label LOW FREQ presenting us with their 55th release to date. Dubtime offers up a melodic dubwise tune with plenty of sub-bass to groove to. Don’t sleep on this artist or this release!
Stevens Kbosh feat Jah Ziek – Ganja Make We Irie – Astrofonik Drum & Bass
France’s Astrofonik Drum & Bass gives us their latest release by Stevens Kbosh who has been getting recent play support by JBostron and Deekline. Get your spliff and lightah ready for this one kids because once this tune drops you wont be able to stop moving your feet. If you need a guaranteed party starter then this is your tune.
Congo Natty feat Peter Bouncer – Junglist – Jamdown Digital
Congo Natty re-releases quite possibly one of the most iconic jungle tunes of all time with vocals by Peter Bouncer (Raving I’m Raving, Fever). For all of you Serato users out there here’s your opportunity to own a quality copy of this great tune. For you vinyl purists whose original press from 1996 or repress from 2004 is warped, has pops or even a dreadful scratch, then have no fear as well. This classic is timeless and available once again!
Scape – Dedication – Jungle Syndicate
Paying homage to the ragga jungle roots comes this tune from Scape of Jungle Syndicate. ‘Dedication’ take us back at 165 BPM and classic drum layering style that brings nostalgia to die hard fans. The EP is accompanied by other classic style tunes ranging from melodic and deep basslines to harder and the distorted drums that we all grew to love.
Sappo – Bristol Beat (Nu Elements remix) – Advisory Records
Still running strong after nearly two decades of drum & bass / jungle releases is Sappo. This tune fromhis Jungle Rollers Vol 2 EP has been in DNBArea’s top 10 for weeks now and it’s only rightful that it should make the top 10 here as well.
6Blocc (RAW) – Live & Direct – Digital 6
Another release from August that I thought still needed some attention is this one from 6Blocc aka RAW off of his Digital 6 imprint. With its hard hitting bassline and rudeboy vocals this is one tune for the height of your set or a good one to just jam out to. Another great EP from the Los Angeles based producer.
