Top Ten Videos August 2014

This month’s selection of the best bass music and hip hop videos features Wilkinson, Logistics, Dr Meaker, Hybris and more…

Wilkinson – Dirty Love feat. Talay Riley
Rollo Jackson, whose recent short film about clubbing in the capital earned him critical acclaim, directs the video for Wilkinson’s new single Dirty Love. According to the press release, “The video sees the playful details that subvert the apparent perfection of what surrounds us. It’s full of digital glamour and futuristic allure, but with a dark edge.” What do you think?

Logistics feat. Hugh Hardie – As Sure As Sunrise
Logistics released his new album Polyphony in July and is a return to the classic Hospital sound he helped shape. Lead track As Sure As Sunrise is collaboration with new talent Hugh Hardie, hopefully lots more where this came from.

Dr Meaker – Right Back feat. Sian Evans
Bristol’s favourite bass music collective return with their biggest release to date, Right Back featuring vocals from Kosheen’s Sian Evans.

Hybris – Garbage Truck
Hybris gets set to drop the second single from his imminent debut album, set for release early September on Noisia’s Invisible imprint.

Forbidden Society – Criminal
As you’d expect Forbidden Society’s debut music video is as intense as his music – not the faint-hearted! Criminal is taken from Forbidden Society’s Criminal EP pt.1 and, later this year, look out for his most ambitious project yet, the Thronecrusher album.

Strange U – The Cake Is A Lie
Strange U take matters into their own hands on The Cake is a Lie. King Kashmere IV and Doctor Zygote continue in the vein of their 2013 Eglo debut but with a more refined and perhaps darker sound. You can download The Cake is a Lie for free now on Strange U’s Bandcamp page and look out for EP #2040 dropping on September 16.

Cutta Chase – Man Made Imagination
Taken from Cutta Chase’s new album, The Clockwork out 15 September Man Made Imagination blends the abstract, straight talking stanzas of Cutta with producer Daryl Donald’s mellow instrumentals.

The Bluntskins – Roll N Burn
The Bluntskins are a Manchester hip hop group that includes rappers Cheech from The Mothership Connection, Bill Sykes from The Natural Curriculum and DJ/producer Pro P. Roll N Burn is the fourth release taken from their new album Cali Ku$h out now.

Hilltop Hoods – Won’t Let You Down feat. Maverick Sabre
Australian hip hop outfit Hilltop Hoods are back with their new album, Walking Under Stars, the highly anticipated follow up to 2012’s award winning album Drinking From The Sun.

Antix – Breathless
More hip hop, this time from up-and-coming London emcee Antix. Liking the intensity and production values of this video.
