Event: New Jungle Night SPUN Brings Inclusive Dancefloor Vibes to Manchester (24/10)

Kmag is re-opening our Events section and is proud for the first event spotlight of the new regime to not only be a jungle night, but a jungle night with a purpose. After their successful public debut, Mancunian collective SPUN are back with their next installment of this grassroots jungle night, to be held at Rebellion on 24th October.

SPUN have been under-under ground for most of its existence, throwing private, closely guarded parties for six years. As word has spread throughout the North West, SPUN has become one of the premiere forces in jungle in the Manchester area and beyond. It sounds like the decision to go public was a natural one. which evolved from the need for more space as well as the drive to continue to lift up the dance community on a broader scale.

All SPUN events are not-for-profit, with any profit going back to upcoming parties and to support the artists. As the proprietors of SPUN are very conscientious of how important sound is to a proper jungle night, They invest in high quality rigs (this night will be Union Sound) and want to give back to the artists who carry the vibe. They also want SPUN events to be inclusive; not only of race, gender and creed, but of physical limitations as well. With two of the SPUN resident artists being disabled themselves, the promoters urge anyone with a disability who needs accommdation to contact them before the night and will do their best to make arrangements.

With a dedication to putting on events with soul and empathy, SPUN are doing something not often seen in the scene anymore. Whilst the residents and featured artists for this night, which include Esme, Stretch, L Major and Fez the Kid, will be spinning a mix of roots jungle and nu jungle, the vibe is very much OG, with a desire to provide those elusive unifying party vibes of the old school.
