Facing Jinx Crowdfunds For Vinyl Project

There’s a great sense of achievement as an artist to have your music cut to vinyl. Digital sales have risen exponentially over the past decade or so and, with the current shift towards streaming, having your music released on a physical format is becoming more of a novelty each day.

For drum & bass producer Facing Jinx, that novelty is something he craves. His latest project, the ‘Endor EP’, is a collection of music he describes as a “labour of love”. It began as a concept EP – a fusion of Sci-Fi and Jungle spread across three tracks, including a collaboration with fellow drum & bass producer Wreckless. Now he wants his creations to be etched into the grooves of a vinyl record – creating an everlasting memory that will stay with him and his fans in palpable form.

For the past four years, he has been releasing his music digitally on various drum & bass record labels, including his own, Peer Pressure Records. The reason for his pursuit of a release on vinyl is his belief that “no matter how many times you play it, the warmth and beauty isn’t lost” – arguably something not felt with the more disposable nature of an MP3 or WAV file.

In order to afford to send his music into production, he has set up a page on crowd-funding website KriticalMass to ask fans to help raise the necessary amount to fund the project. A target of £1,200 has been set and donations have already been pledged by several supporters, with incentives being offered to those making a contribution.

The ‘Endor EP’ is set for digital release on 27th, October 2014 on Peer Pressure Records. Hopefully a vinyl release will follow in the near future.
