Icicle – Problem ft. Skittles
Problem, featuring vocals from Skittles, is the first single taken from Icicle’s second album Entropy due mid-November on Shogun Audio. It’s a dark track sitting somewhere on the edges of hip-hop, grime and drum & bass and the video is suitably moody too.
Dub Phizix & Strategy – Buffalo Charge
Dub Phizix launches his new SenkaSonik label with the much sought after Buffalo Charge featuring vocals from Strategy. One of the tracks of the summer now has a video to match. Ever seen a buffalo rap?!
The Bug – Function / Void
Ninja Tune, in collaboration with Factory Fifteen, Nexus and The Creators Project present this video combining two tracks that explore the duality and contradiction intrinsic to The Bug’s new album Angels & Devils via the ear-battering acid-grime assault of Function (featuring Roll Deep’s Manga) and the heavily blunted dub of Void (featuring Liz Harris of Grouper).
Kabuki – Constellations / Six-Four
Another video showcasing two tracks, a new trend? Kabuki’s video features Constellations and Six-Four from his new album Meditations. Anyone expecting drum & bass will be in for a pleasant surprise as both tunes are deep head-nodding hip hop. Classy.
Numa Crew – Control feat. MC Kwality
Control is the second single taken from Numa Crew’s forthcoming LP on Liondub International. Great bass heavy 140 tune and clever use of live action and animation in the video.
Andy C & Fiora – Heartbeat Loud
Andy C with a VIP of Heartbeat Loud, his new single with Fiora and a video shot at one of his many festival dates over the summer.
Delta Heavy – Reborn
The stop motion animated video to Reborn Delta Heavy’s follow-up to the Apollo EP is a surreal affair. Think knitting needles, crabs, scissors, fingers, wool and buttons on the sea bed and you’re not even close!
Koven – Eternal And You
Taken from the recently released Hereinafter Pt. 1 EP on Viper Recordings. Three beautiful girls, flares, petrol, fire… what more do you want in a video?
Parallax – Rat Race
London based rapper / producer Parallax drops a video from Depth Perception, the six-track EP he released in June. Something to make you think.
Bambooman – Clasp
Taken from the Dulcet EP out now on Sonic Router Records, the stop-motion video was made by Mark Prendergast using one camera, 43 bouncy balls and 76 sheets of sandpaper!
Zed Bias ft Stylo G & Scrufizzer – Shizam
OK, so Shizam is my eleventh pick but it’s literally just landed in my inbox and it’s such a banger I had to include it. The animation in the video reminded of Numa Crew’s (see Control above) but much more colourful.
